On the edge of a curve inside the Libreville Crescent, once a neighbor to Salamander Cafe and Zodara, Thought Pyramid Art Centre opened its door to a mish mash of artists and a photographer.
The 17th of August flickered with a charmed circle for the Undiscovered Exhibition. The walls lined with works by Bella Mfon, Opara Courage, Mr. Waduud, Juwonlo, Paschal Ugwu, Ojenike Oladapo, Gift Osague, Faith Omole, Maduka Emmanuel and Nebolisa Kelly.
Typically, Art and Photography shows hold a common theme in art texture with an underlying relationship. A facet connecting artists is traditional, this airing opted for a flight of fancy.
It was akin a bijou biennale where you come for one and discover another which was fitting giving its theme.
Juwonlo (Olorunjuwonlo) is beguiled primarily by landscapes and architecture and beamed next to a few rectangular panoramas. He is on the rise and should be on your radar along with Omole whose chief materials are acrylic on canvas.
Distinct eyes which are parallel to a Paschal insignia spilled eerily and absolutely unmissed.
Fabric paintings of Osague were a spate of colors imbuing synesthesia, her dominant tone was so palpable it spoke of a level of joie de vivre.
There was generosity in the use of pencils and paints by Nebolisa Kelly, emotive dispositions enhanced by water dripping over their faces, a simulation of rain or a shower.
Next to Juwonlo and Osague was Bella Mfon, with each canvas she expressed something different, you could be captivated by morbid curiosity with one piece and experience a wave of flurry butterflies over the next.
The experience culminated with the psychology of art, which was challenged by Mr Waduud who had recently closed an exhibition in Miami. He welcomed questions, while at the opening. In moments found alone by his section, his twin ‘Oasis of Peace Inside’ was quite intriguing.
The Abuja August rain casted a somber feeling on her denizens made so much more better by the group exhibition on the first floor of Thought Pyramid which eased the goodbye to Summer, 2023.
